Gift Guide for a 4-year-old | Califf Life Creations

My son is almost a 4-year-old and that means that he has a mind of his own! He knows what he likes and wants. This gift guide is completely based on those likes. So if you know a 3 or 4-year-old that likes Dinosaurs, Scooby Doo, building toys, space, games and Mickey Mouse you are in the right place to find some great gifts! I also included a few extra ideas at the bottom so don’t forget to scroll all the way down!

With that being said, I do like the toys to be interactive and often end up with ones that my son can grow into so the age ratings are sometimes a little high. This list is more of a “what I got my son” list than a true gift guide, but what is better than knowing what a mom ACTUALLY bought? I’m really excited about what we got him this year and hope that the rest of this list will be gifted by others (or at a later date).

Dinosaurs

When I asked my son what he wanted this year he said he wanted a REALLY big dinosaur. So, I went out and found the BIGGEST dinosaurs I could find. We found these awesome toys based off Jurassic World that are basically as big as he is! One is a Tyrannosaurs Rex and can actually eat little mini figures. The other is a Brachiosaurus that is so huge I know he is going to freak out when he sees it. They also make a bunch of smaller dinosaur toys that look equally as awesome.

Scooby Doo Toys

My son LOVES Scooby Doo. Our whole family dressed up as the gang for Halloween (check out the picture on Instagram). That is why we wanted to get him some fun Scooby Doo toys. There are a lot to choose from, but we decided on some action figures and the mystery machine.

There are also some really fun play sets that we didn’t get this year, but might be a birthday present!

Finally, I can’t wait for him to be a little older because we are a big Lego family and there are some really cool Scooby Doo sets that I would love to build with him. We are still in the Duplo phase right now.

Building Toys for a 4-Year-Old

Speaking of Duplo, of course there had to be at least one under the tree this year! We decided to get a starter box that he can use and build however he wants. It includes some windows and wheels so he can make buildings and cars.

Space Toys for 4-Year-Old

Space is a big thing in our house. My son is fascinated by it and loves to pretend that he is flying in space. He says that he needs to “rescue his friends from Mars” and then runs around the house. I knew some good space toys would be perfect for my little boy who says he wants to be an astronaut when he grows up.

Space Helmet

Pretend play is so important at this age, so dress up is a big part of our playtime. A space helmet and a little carrying bag for it is sure to be a hit.

My lucky boy will be getting some really cool space toys this year (thanks Grandma and Grandpa)! He is getting a rocket, a space capsule and a viewfinder!

Games for a 4-Year-Old

I’m so excited that my son is old enough for some board games. I can’t wait to sit down and start playing with him. My excitement might have gotten a little out of hand since I ended up getting quite a few games for him this year. These are some of the ones I’m most excited about.

Mickey Mouse

My son was in desperate need of some new bed sheets, so this year we decided to make it a present and get him some really cool Mickey Mouse ones. This set we got is great for kids, like him, that also love space!

We also wanted to have a little gift to him from his baby brother so thought a fun Mickey plush would be perfect. The one we chose is covered in sequin that he can swipe to change the look!

Another perfect Mickey toy for a 4-year-old is this Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. It is perfect for imaginative and pretend play.
