Best Workouts for Busy Moms

Physical fitness can often be overlooked when you have kids. One of the first things to go is your workouts. You spend all your time caring for them and forget about yourself. As a mother, it’s important to strive to be the best example we can for our children. That includes modeling healthy behavior like exercising.

I am really happy to work with my sponsor, Gixo, today to share this information with you!

I’m also training for a 5k obstacle course (if you follow me on Instagram you’ve seen my journey) and have been trying out a lot of different workouts to try and get ready. It’s been a struggle to get moving and stay motivated. It’s not like I have time to go to a gym and I don’t have any fancy equipment at my house. Plus, I don’t know what exercises I can do at home to have an effective workout.

If you can relate to this, I have a solution for you! It is an app called Gixo. Gixo makes working out at home easy with a lot of different routines available. They range in intensity so there is something for every fitness level and in length so that you can always find the time to squeeze one in, even as a busy mom. With everything from yoga to HIIT (high-intensity interval training), workouts to be done indoors and outdoors, and lengths from 5 minutes to 40 minutes, there is bound to be something to fit your life.

What Makes Gixo Workouts Different?

Now, I know what you are thinking. What makes Gixo different from the countless other workout apps out there? For me, it’s the live classes. At set times throughout the day (from 5 am to 11 pm) there are coaches hosting these live classes. For these, you can turn your camera on your phone so the coach can see you and help you through the workout with your form and with encouragement. It’s a great feature that really makes a difference for me. The coach was able to help me adapt certain exercises to accommodate my bad knees and help me catch up when I missed a minute due to a cranky baby. It feels like you are working with a personal trainer in your own home!

Sounds pretty great right? Download the Gixo through the app store and try it with a FREE 7-day trial and 20% off with code “califf”.

Still trying to decide if Gixo is right for you? Here’s more detail about the types of workouts available.

The categories offered by Gixo are strength, running, HIIT, yoga, walking, weights, kickboxing, treadmill, stretching, and bootcamp. With such a variety, there is bound to be something for you. My favorite part about using Gixo is exploring different types for workouts without committing to a longer class (like the 15-minute Pilates Mat Express class I tried). And of course, it’s all done in the comfort of your home. That means that all these workouts are available without needing to drive to and from a gym and whenever you can squeeze one in!

Here’s a little more detail about some of the Gixo workouts I tried.

Yoga

If you’ve read any of my other fitness posts, you know that I am a fan of yoga. It has helped me become stronger and more centered as a mother. With Gixo, there are several short, 15-minute sessions that fit perfectly into my mom routine. With morning yoga to help energize and bedtime, or detox, yoga to relax at night, they are great additions to my day. I can stay more focused and centered throughout the day with Yoga Calm with is crucial when dealing with a cranky baby and a crazy toddler. Or I can build some strength with Yoga Power. The calming music that is played in the background during these yoga workouts is great for relaxing as well.

HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training)

Another type of workout I tried was high-intensity interval training (HIIT). These are intense workouts that are great for improving endurance and strength. There are a variety of HIIT workouts to choose from to fit your needs. I did the 15-minute HIIT Build workout and it kicked my butt! I learned that I definitely have more work to do to survive the 5k obstacle race I’m training for!

Strength

These were some of my favorite classes I tried. I did two 15-minute classes: a Full Body Sculpt and Pilates Mat Express. There are different workouts to target the core, legs, arms, booty and more. After having a c-section targeting the core has been important to me to regain the strength I lost so seeing a lot of workouts targeting the core is a big plus!

Best App for Busy Moms Workouts!

I really think it’s the best workout app that I’ve tried to fit my busy mom life. There are harder workouts if I’m feeling more ambitious and easier ones if I just need to loosen up. I love the variety of short 15-minute workouts that I can quickly complete during naps and before tackling the mess in my house! The live classes provide that little extra that I’ve been looking for (and don’t worry if you can’t remember when you sign up for a class, they send you a text reminder!).

Taking time to complete workouts and be physically fit is important to me as a mother. I want to show my kids that I live a healthy lifestyle so that they will want to live one as well. using Gixo, it’s been easier than ever to exercise and stay fit and healthy.
