Baby Led Weaning Fruity Breakfast Recipe
My baby is 6 months old! How did that happen so quickly? Although I’m sad he’s already getting so big, 6 months is an exciting time. Baby is so much more engaged, playing with toys, interacting with people, and interested in solid good! Time to introduce him to the culinary world and baby led weaning.

Why I Choose Baby Led Weaning
With my first son, I did the traditional purees and spoon feeding. It was a lot of work, especially because I made all of his food myself. Trying to do this with a second child seemed like a daunting task. Spoon feeding a baby takes a lot of attention and I knew my toddler wouldn’t like being ignored at mealtime. That is what led me to baby led weaning. Now, I am no expert when it comes to baby led weaning, but it has been so much easier to let my baby feed himself.

Starting Out with Baby Led Weaning
Starting out with baby led weaning was easy! All I do is cut regular food into finger shapes and let him feed himself. he’s eaten avocado (tip: cover it in crushed cheerios for better grip), sweet potato, zucchini, watermelon, pear, red pepper and more! It is so much fun to watch him explore the food on his own and allows me the ability to pay attention to my toddler and eat myself instead of focusing solely on spoon feeding baby.
The Recipe
Along this journey, there came a time where I bought more fresh fruit than he could eat. It was about to go bad. So how do I use it up in a baby led weaning recipe? That’s how I came up with this easy breakfast. It only takes about 10 minutes to prep and he loved it. The best part is (as long as you cut the fruit appropriately) you can make this with almost any fruit that is about to go bad in your fridge!
Just mix the ingredients, pour into a 10 inch round baking pan, top with fruit (I used apple and pear slices) and bake! Then you cut it into strips for baby and let them at it. This is a great breakfast recipe for baby and even an older child!
Note:
In this recipe, I listed a range of how much flour you can use. If you use more flour, it will out a little denser. For babies that are just starting out with solids, I recommend starting on the low end and you can increase the flour amount as they learn to chew better.
