DIY Saint Patrick’s Day Centerpiece

Decorating for a holiday is always fun. The table display is always the most visible of anything, so making your own centerpiece is a lot of fun. Saint Patrick’s Day is one that is easy to go over the top with. You can have leprechauns, rainbows, shamrocks, and pots of gold. However, I chose to keep it simple and easy with this easy dollar store centerpiece.

I got all of the supplies from my local Dollar Tree for about three dollars. I purchased a fun leprechaun hat, some plastic gold coins, and some foam shamrocks that came in two shades of green. When I bought everything, I honestly had no idea what I was planning on making. The only thing I knew, was that I wanted to make a centerpiece. So I played around with different arrangements and ended up very happy with this final design!

It is really easy to make and only takes a few minutes and a hot glue gun. Here’s my step-by-step guide to making this cute centerpiece for your Saint Patrick’s Day table!

First, I took my leprechaun hat and turned it upside down so I could use my hot glue gun to glue the gold coins to the bottom of the rim in a circle. They fit perfectly! I chose to have the four-leaf clover side of the coins pointed up as it helped with the simplicity. Having the writing on the coins is a lot more detail that I wasn’t looking for.

Then I glued another round of gold coins around in a wider circle. This added a layer of depth that I thought looked really cool and made it look more like the hat was sitting on a pile of gold coins, which was my goal. If you bought enough gold coins and want to, feel free to add another circle. I only bought one package and didn’t have enough. Plus, I wanted to keep it a little smaller because I have a small table.

For the last step, I glued the foam shamrocks around the gold coins, alternating the dark and light greens in a pattern. Presto, you’re done! That was easy, wasn’t it! For three dollars and only a few minutes of your time, you created a fun centerpiece for your holiday table. And it’s nice and low on the table so it doesn’t interfere with talking to people across the table from you! I always hated tall centerpieces where I can’t see who is sitting opposite me.

To complete the table display, you can add some rainbow napkins. They add a fun little pop and fit perfectly with the theme! It’s not over the top but is a fun unique way to have a little extra on your table.

This display will look perfect when you serve my Guinness Glazed Corned Beef for dinner!
