DIY Baseball Concessions Banner

My husband has always been a big Yankee fan and hanging out with him and his friends I either became a fan myself, or I was left out of the conversation. So, I became a fan. Now we are a big baseball family. For my son’s second birthday, we did a baseball (and Yankee) themed party. As part of it, I made my own concessions banner to hang above the food.

This includes affiliate links. That means that if you purchase through these links that Califf Creations will receive compensation that is of no extra cost to you. This helps cover the costs of Califf Creations.

This sign is great for any baseball themed party, whether it’s for a birthday, opening day, or for a World Series party! If you are a baseball lover, or you just want to do something special for the baseball lover in your life, this is the perfect thing. It’s cheaper than buying one and is really easy to make. If you aren’t a Yankee fan, then you can customize it for your own team by skipping the pinstripes and adding your own team’s logo. You might want to change the colors as well. I used all navy blue and white for the Yankees.

Supplies:

Directions:

First, use a protractor to mark out a triangle on a white piece of paper. Using the protractor allows you to have nice, even angles so that the triangle comes out looking nicer than doing by eye.

Cut out 13 triangles. If you have a steady hand, you can use a regular pair of scissors. Or, if you want to be sure, use a paper cutter that will give you a clean, straight cut the first try.

Next, for the Yankee pinstripes, use a ruler to mark out every half inch along the top with a pencil. Then, still using the ruler, lightly mark out vertical lines on each triangle.

Using the pencil still, lightly mark out one letter per triangle spelling out C-O-N-C-E-S-S-I-O-N-S. On the last two triangles, trace out the logo. For the Yankees, I did the NY logo. If you want to use a more intricate logo, you could print one out and glue it on using a glue stick.

Use your marker (I used navy blue) to trace over all your pencil marks and then erase the pencil marks to clean it up. Cut out 13 rectangles from construction paper that are the width of your triangles and about 1 inch thick. Use a glue stick to glue these on top of the triangles. Finally, use a hot glue gun to glue a string (or twine) behind the construction paper rectangles, gluing them down in order so that you can hang the banner.

That’s it! You can string it up over your food display or on the table. It looks great and I know I got a lot of compliments on mine. People even thought I had bought it! Making your own little touches for a party makes everything more special and cheaper! That’s a huge bonus in my mind!
