Califf Photography Creations
I’ve always had a passion for photography. There was something magical about preserving a moment in time. My heart has always been drawn to art, even though my hands never seemed to cooperate. With photography, I could express myself in ways that I couldn’t do with other forms of art. Now, my passion has been re-ignited and I’ve decided to follow it where it leads.
Announcing Califf Photography Creations
While freelance photography has always been on my list of jobs, I never truly marketed myself as a professional. I never took that leap of faith that is required to build yourself an income around photography. With the formation of Califf Photography Creations, I am now ready to share my art and my skills with the world. That means that I am not only taking bookings for everything from portraits and events, to travel and documentary photography.
My goal in any photography session is to capture people the way they are. I aim for laughter and fun so a person’s true self shines through. With children, I work around them, hopping on rocks right beside them so they have the freedom to express themselves and I have the chance to capture it. I’ll look for new angles and perspectives to create a piece of art that will bring a smile to your face.
Hiking is my superpower.
I can reach places that most photographers can’t and make myself available for full hiking sessions, mountaintop minis, nature, and landscape photography.
Where Did I Start?
I began as a black and white film photographer. This allowed me to train my eye to see the lighting and to take my time. Film photography isn’t like digital where you can take 100 pictures to get 1 good one. You have to patient and pick your moment to capture. If you miss it, it is gone. That is what made film so special.
However, times change, and eventually, I was forced to change as well. I entered the world of digital photography. With digital, you can do so much and there is more room for error. It has its benefits. I am still a purist and do not use Photoshop to alter my photos in any way. Instead, I simply touch up the lighting and colors to highlight the beauty that is actually there.
If I create a photo that is highly altered, it is because I am focused on the art and I do not try to hide it. Instead, I embrace it fully to create something that is obviously altered and beautiful in its own way.
How I Am Moving Forward
Now, I am embracing my style and my passion. I’ll showcase my work on my new Instagram account @CaliffPhotographyCreations and am taking bookings now. Send me an email or contact me directly through Instagram and I will give you a custom quote. As I develop my business, I will be fine-tuning my rates and availability.
I’m so excited to dive into this and finally put energy behind growing this part of my business. Watch for updates on the photography section of my blog as I expand and share more of my art.
