Skin Care is Self Care

At one point in my life, I thought having a skin care routine was about vanity. It always seemed like a lot of money to be spending on something that is meant to help you look better. I spent 30 years of my life thinking this and never wanting to “waste” my money on skin care. Then, when Derma-E gifted me a set of skin care products, I figured I’d give it a shot. Within one week I learned something new. Skin care is self-care.

What I Learned about Skin Care from Derma-E

Skin care is not about vanity. Those benefits are secondary to how it made me feel. My skin was less itchy and felt smooth to the touch. Breakouts are uncomfortable. Adding a good, clean skin care routine reduced their frequency for me which brought more confidence as well as physically feeling more comfortable. I never thought about it from this perspective and once I did, my mind was opened and I won’t go back. My morning routine is a little bit longer now, but it is so worth it. I feel more refreshed and ready to take on the day. My morning skin care routine became part of my self-care routine.

Derma-E Skin Care Products

Derma-E started in a small Southern California health food store and has grown into one of the largest natural skin care brands in the United States. They are dedicated to clean beauty with a focus on ingredient safety without sacrificing effectiveness. Their commitment to clean beauty extends to the environment as they consider the ingredients that end up in our ecosystems and strive to lessen their environmental impact. Derma-E sent me 7 products that focused on hydration and firming skin. I’ve been using them consistently for a few weeks now and adding this skin care has become so important for my self-care. My favorite part is how it made me feel inside but the physical benefits in how it made my skin look were amazing.

One Week with Derma-E

Hydrating Facial Alkaline Cloud Cleanser

This foaming cleanser is so light and leaves my skin feeling great. It is sulfate-free and contains Hyaluronic Acid to wash away impurities without drying out your skin. A good cleanser like this is an important foundation for any skin care routine.

Hydrating Mist

I like to use this anytime during the day for a boost of hydration. It has plant botanicals and nutrients to cool and hydrate skin. The bonus to this cooling sensation is that it helps me feel more awake a refreshed in the morning.

Ultra Hydrating Alkaline Overnight Facial

This face mask nourishes skin while you sleep to help you wake up without that puffy, dull skin that I had gotten so used to. Waking up to skin that LOOKS well-rested helps me to feel the same. It doesn’t clog my pores and has been perfect during the winter to keep my skin hydrated and balanced.

Firming DMAE Serum

After using this serum for a while, I did see a noticeable difference in my skin. The wrinkles that had been forming started to smooth out. My skin’s tone and texture also evened out. The best part is that it is so silky that it doesn’t make my skin feel oily like other similar skin care products have.

Stem Cell Eye Lifting Treatment

The eye area is really delicate and so you have to be careful with what you use. This treatment is specifically made to be gentle around the eye while firming and tightening the skin to smooth out laughter lines and lift the skin.

Ferulic Acid Resurfacing Pads

These gently clean deeply while removing dead skin cells. Using them a couple of times a week keeps your skin looking fresh. Removing the dead skin cells as part of my skin care routine was a big help to reduce my skin’s itchiness!

Mask Applicator

This silicone mask applicator makes it easy to apply your favorite facial without using fingers that can spread dirt back onto your skin.

Skin Care is Self Care (before and after)

Skin Care is Self-Care

Now I know. It’s more than making your skin look nice. Skin care is about creating a routine of self-care. When my skin feels good, I feel good. Having skin care as a part of my morning routine also helps me to feel more awake and refreshed, ready to take on the day. Improving the look of your skin can help to boost confidence in all areas of your life as well.

It is so important to practice self-care, in any way that you can. I’m constantly redefining my definition of self-care and after trying these Derma-E products, I’m changing it again. From now on, skin care is included in my self-care.
