Find your Favorite Nature Craft with Ela Wild

Nature learning doesn’t have to always be about being outside. At some point in the day, you need to come in and the perfect transition is a nature craft. It is a great way to bring nature learning inside. We love to collect things outside and then use those to create something inside. Whether it is painting rocks or making trees, I’ve found that creating a nature craft is a great way to bond and have fun together.

Nature Crafts

While on a walk, or playing in the yard, I love seeing what my son is interested in collecting. Sometimes it’s rocks, other times it is leaves. I’ve found that a great way to transition back indoors is by bringing these things inside and doing a craft with them. Find all of my favorite nature crafts that continue to teach us in unexpected ways, even indoors.

Acorn Nature Craft

One of my son’s favorite things to collect is acorns. He will fill pockets and then hold as much as he can in his hands as well. We put them in a bottle and made shakers with them. My son loves to paint them. His favorite thing is to just glue them to paper in a shape, which I have shared on my Instagram.

Really, I think he just likes using glue. He squeezes it onto the paper (with help at times) and then sticks the acorns on. Of course, there is plenty of times that his fingers go in the glue too, but that’s part of what he likes!

I love this idea. It is more suited for a little older, otherwise you will do most of it. What I think would be fun is to let me son decorate some pine cones and then make this to hang up for the holidays! Read how to make it at The Lavender Homefront

Painted Rocks

This is such a fun one. I often go for a slightly more refined look than my three year old. He prefers the look of muddled colors that eventually turn a grayish brown. I love these ideas from Glitter, Inc. If you want to do something nice with them, try this idea for kindness rocks from A Nation of Moms.

Fall Nature Crafts

I found a lot of inspiration from Lorena & Lennox for sensory and fine motor activities that are the perfect end to a fall walk with a toddler. I can’t wait to try the apple stamping with my son. He is going to love it!

Fall Tissue Paper Tree

I love using tissue paper in crafts. My son loves the noise it makes when he rips it and crinkles it up tight to glue onto our fall tree. There are also versions of this craft for every other season.
